Startups4Peace (Su4P)

Dated: June 26, 2026

Introduction

Startups4Peace (Su4P) is a bicommunal startup accelerator programme in Cyprus that brings together entrepreneurs from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities to develop innovative business ideas while fostering collaboration and peacebuilding. The programme is funded by the European Union under the eunite Programme, implemented by GIZ International Services, in partnership with CyprusInno, CYENS, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

Background

Launched in 2015, Startups4Peace was established to encourage innovative entrepreneurship while strengthening relationships between the two communities in Cyprus. Over the years, the programme has evolved into one of the island’s leading startup accelerators, combining entrepreneurship training with peacebuilding objectives. Participants receive intensive support through bootcamps, mentoring, networking, and a final pitching competition.

Funding Support

Startups4Peace provides participants with a range of benefits, including:

  • Residential entrepreneurship bootcamps
  • One-to-one mentoring from business experts
  • Business development workshops
  • Networking opportunities with investors and entrepreneurs
  • Pitch competition (“Pitching Battle”)
  • Seed funding for winning teams
  • Investment readiness support
  • Access to investor networks
  • International startup exposure through major entrepreneurship events

Recent editions of the programme have awarded €20,000 in seed funding, distributed among the top three teams, along with sponsored participation at international startup events for the winners.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants generally include:

  • Individual entrepreneurs
  • Startup founders and co-founders
  • Early-stage startups
  • Innovators with viable business ideas
  • Participants aged 18 years or older

While bicommunal business ideas are encouraged and may receive additional consideration, applicants are not required to apply with a bicommunal startup concept. Specific eligibility requirements may vary by programme edition.

Benefits and Impact

Since its inception, Startups4Peace has supported hundreds of entrepreneurs by helping them refine business ideas, validate products, expand professional networks, and access investment opportunities. Beyond startup development, the programme has strengthened cooperation between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, demonstrating how entrepreneurship can contribute to trust-building, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

Conclusion

Startups4Peace is a unique accelerator that combines entrepreneurship with peacebuilding, empowering innovators to transform ideas into sustainable businesses while fostering collaboration across communities in Cyprus. Through mentoring, seed funding, investor connections, and international exposure, the programme continues to nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs and strengthen the island’s innovation ecosystem.
