Governance and Structure

The Board is chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence.
His Excellency Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the Foundation. He led the Foundation’s establishment in 2016 and has overseen the development of several major future-focused initiatives.

By May 2021, AREA 2071 had hosted more than 780 physical events and over 80 virtual events, attracting more than 26,000 participants. Its programmes had welcomed 227 startups, and 45 participating international startups had established offices in the UAE, creating more than 600 jobs.
Dubai Future Accelerators had generated 89 pilot projects, supported participating startups in raising AED 75 million in equity funding and facilitated 153 memoranda of understanding with potential partners.
