Stop TB Partnership

Dated: June 23, 2026

Introduction

The Stop TB Partnership is a global health initiative dedicated to eliminating tuberculosis (TB) as a public health threat. Established in 2001, the partnership brings together governments, international organizations, civil society groups, research institutions, donors, and affected communities to accelerate efforts toward ending TB worldwide. Hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Geneva, Switzerland, the partnership works to ensure equitable access to TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care.

Background

Tuberculosis remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, affecting millions of people each year. The Stop TB Partnership was created to coordinate global action against TB and support the achievement of international targets, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the WHO End TB Strategy. Over the years, the partnership has become a leading platform for advocacy, innovation, and resource mobilization aimed at reducing the global TB burden.

Funding Support

The Stop TB Partnership provides support through various funding mechanisms and initiatives, including:

  • TB REACH grants for innovative TB detection and care projects
  • Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) initiatives
  • Research and innovation support
  • Capacity-building programs
  • Advocacy and awareness campaigns
  • Technical assistance for TB programs
  • Community-led monitoring initiatives
  • Access to new TB diagnostic tools and treatments

Through its flagship TB REACH program, the partnership funds innovative approaches to finding and treating people with tuberculosis, particularly in underserved and high-burden communities.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants may include:

  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Civil society organizations
  • Community-based groups
  • Research institutions and universities
  • Government health agencies
  • International organizations
  • Healthcare providers and networks

Eligibility requirements vary according to the specific funding opportunity and program objectives.

Benefits and Impact

The Stop TB Partnership has supported hundreds of projects across more than 50 countries, helping identify and treat millions of people affected by tuberculosis. Through TB REACH and other initiatives, the partnership has accelerated the adoption of innovative technologies, strengthened healthcare systems, and improved access to life-saving TB services for vulnerable populations.

The organization also plays a critical role in advocating for increased global investment in TB prevention and treatment while promoting patient-centered approaches to care.

Conclusion

The Stop TB Partnership is a leading force in the global fight against tuberculosis. Through grants, advocacy, innovation, and strategic partnerships, it supports efforts to detect, treat, and prevent TB while strengthening health systems worldwide. Its work continues to contribute significantly to the goal of ending tuberculosis as a global public health threat.
